The mission of the Counseling Department at Santee School district is to empower all students to reach their fullest potential by providing a comprehensive school counseling program that facilitates their academic, career, social and emotional development.

Santee Counseling Program Goals:

 Academic  To help students develop 21st Century skills that will enable them to reach their academic potential as well as identify possible factors that impact/impede learning and provide appropriate support.
 Personal/Social  To teach and reinforce positive behaviors that promote collaboration in the classroom, skills for successful interpersonal relationships and confidence in one's self.
 Career  To provide students the opportunity to discover various career and postsecondary education choices in relation to their personal interests, aptitudes, and abilities

 

Types of Counseling Services:

  • Classroom Guidance Lessons
  •  Small Skills-based Group
  •  Short term Individual School Counseling
  •  Referrals for Therapy Services on Camps
  •  Providing Outside of School Resources
  •  Parent/Guardian Workshops and Trainings

How a Student May Access School Counseling Services: 

  • Parent/ Guardian Request/Referral
  •  Staff Recommendation
  •  Student Self-Referral
